The city is on the island of New Providence. The city is famous for Junkanoo, a street parade of costumed people dancing to cowbells, drums and whistles. It occurs on December 26th and January 1. They also have junkanoo June which is a month long celebration similar to Mardi Gras. The festivals begin at sundown.
